Show information about THE BIRDS

THE BIRDS is a 2 person show. The show is approximately 45 minutes long, with a non-linear narrative. The show has eleven (11) sections, and the two performers use movement, dance and physical theatre to tell the story. The performers do speak text, but text is limited. The show includes voice-over narration throughout the duration of the work, but this is not captioned or ASL interpreted at this time. Voice-over narration happens during transitions between scenes. Transitions happen when the stage lights are either lowered and/or there is reduced action happening on stage.

The show includes mild audience interaction, flashing and/or moving lights and a variety of different music and sounds at various noise levels. The performers do perform comedic, over the top sexualized behaviour (humping the air or moving their pelvis in suggestive movements, touching their bodies in a comedic way) and yell out words and phrases related to mating, evolution, reproduction/fertilization, having sex and making babies. The performers will not touch any audience member and will not interact with audience members who do not want to be involved or give consent.

Many costume changes happen onstage in full-view, but there is no nudity.

Themes of pregnancy and infertility are addressed in the work, but are not directly discussed and/or are dealt with in a comedic way.
